Ice Storm 2013

Southern Ontario got whacked with a bad ice storm - the worst since the epic storm of 1997. Our power went out Sunday morning and was restored 38.5 hours later late Monday night. It got pretty cold in the house - down to 13C. We managed. I got the Coleman burner out and the campfire perculator. I boiled water for tea, made a pot of coffee for me and the neighbours, and made bacon and eggs on the burner for breakfast. Soup for lunch and dinner. Next day, I got the barbecue going to have more cooking area (it was covered under a half-inch of ice (12 mm or so). Bacon and eggs again for breakfast; toast, coffee, and tea. More soup for lunch. Boiled pasta for me for supper and made Linda a grilled cheese on the barbeque. She was down sick this whole time, too. She's fine now. We kept busy wrapping presents and listening to the portable radio for news updates. We lost the top of the young tree across from us and, as you will see for next day's blip, the bigger tree also had major damage.

Back-blipped Dec 24.

See also Linda's ice storm photos a little later today.
