Three happy smiles

Today started exactly as the weather forecasters had predicted. Strong winds, grey skies and lots of rain. S and I were joining daughter C and her boys and daughter J for exchange of gifts and brunch, to be cooked by J.

The boys were in good form. They were keen to not wake their aunt, and so played very quietly (apparently) even though she and C were both awake anyway! By the time we were with them, they were barely still, and rarely quiet.

This is one of the few times when they were in the one place long enough for a photo. Young L is unsure quite how to hold his face for a photo, and tends to pose with somewhat odd expressions. This picture caught him and Mr H smiling at something said by J. As this was how they were all morning, except when being asked to be in a photo shoot, I chose this to blip.

A brilliant brunch from J, who also provided the Christmas cake, wonderfully iced by C. We grandparents were spoiled by the attention. Young L chose gardening gloves for me, and Mr H gave me a book about 20th century history from the headlines.

A leisurely afternoon so far, broken by a short and very gentle run.
