A view from a bus

I was supposed to join Music Group Tom on the bus around 12.00 to go to today's music session which was in Rathgar. The 108 bus is one of the very few of Dublin Bus's routes which crosses the city, so it was doubly-handy for today's trip, going reasonably close to the final destination and still stopping sufficiently short to provide me with a need for a reasonable walk. As it happened, I ended up bussing it alone, since Tom had a bit of a late night last night and wasn't feeling up to going to the music session. We had a couple of decisions to make before the music came to an end, most especially to arrive at a short list of possible destination for next year's trip away. When the talking was done, we'd narrowed things down to either Berlin, Paris or Vienna. Next step is to do a bit more research about what's on in these cities over the May Day weekend. Our plan is to make a final decision in two weeks' time.

This was also a bit of a watershed day in terms of my recovery, since Carl and I had agreed that he'd hand back the car today after the four months he's been looking after it. He drove over to meet us in Coman's pub, the rest of the gang left, and then he and I did some last-minute shopping for a dinner party we were invited to tonight. In the process we came across a really nice delicatessen in Rathgar village and went a bit wild. We were running just a little bit late, and cutting it fine to get to the dinner hosts' place on time, but we just managed, thanks to a cooperative taxi driver.

We had a lovely night, and got back to my place about half past midnight.

The blip? That's a view from the bus as we stopped on the bridge at Portobello. The swans seemed to be enjoying the attention they were getting.
