DIY book shelves

A bit of a milestone today in terms of recovery from my bypass surgery. This afternoon was the first time in four months that I drove the car in what would be considered normal day-to-day circumstances. Open-road driving on the way back from our trip to Belfast really didn't count, especially since that experience only served to prove that I wasn't ready at that stage to get behind the wheel again. It was just a short trip today, up the road to Woodies hardware outlet, where Carl needed to get a few things, prompted by the fact that he had a discount voucher which was only valid today. I drove there and back without any problem. Another small step on the return road to normality.

(As the blip shows -- it's part of a selection of DIY books which were on display in Woodies, which caught my eye because of the way the sunlight was falling on the shelves -- the weather was bright and sunny today. The temptation was strong to go further and get out and about a bit, but the TV was beckoning us back to my place.)

As a reward for looking after the car for the past four months and returning it in pristine condition (freshly tidied and hoovered and washed), I made Eggs Benedict for brunch, which we ate while half watching the Moto GP race from Portugal, after which it was time for the re-broadcast of the Japanese Grand Prix (well done to Sebastian Vettel, and hallelujah for the fact that neither Drivers nor Constructors championship is yet decided (it's always so much better if there's still something to fight for right up to season's end).

I dropped Carl to the DART around 6.00 pm and then relaxed lazily for the rest of the evening -- the usual relaxation choices: TV and music.
