London Eye

The weather was much improved today, and we spent the afternoon and early evening in London. This blip shows the London Eye lit up after dusk, as seen through the decorative lighting outside the Royal Festival Hall on the south bank of the River Thames.

One of the main purposes of our trip today was to see the exibition of photographs selected for the Landscape Photographer of the Year. I had already seen all the images (I have the book), but nothing beats seeing the excellent display of well presented large prints at this free exhibition.

A visitor to Britain, seeing this exhibition, could draw two conclusions. One is that Britain has a wonderful variety of stunning landscapes to match anything in the world. The second is that Britain suffers permanent heavy mists, as this seemed to be a feature of a high proportion of the photographs.

If you are anywhere near South Bank, spare a little time to see these photographs.
