Watchin' the Tide Roll Away II

Almost a month to the day since the last spring tides flooded up and over the wall down at The Shore (blipped here), we had a repeat today that came even further in. The bench in the picture was completely submerged for a while a few minutes before this, but I didn't have my wellies on to get in there and capture that.

Riverman was down keeping the crowds up-to-date with timings (yep, there were crowds; the police arrived at one point and asked them to move a load of cars, just in case), waiting to see if it would be a record high tide for us. It came up short of that but it's certainly the wettest I've seen it down there.

The weather played nice for a blessed change and it was good to be able to get a bit of fresh air without hiding under a hood or bent double against the wind. Back to take down the last of the Christmas stuff and bring everything back to a semblance of normality. Cheese, crackers and chocolate de-tox programme starts tomorrow in preparation for the return to w...w... wo... ... nope, can't bring myself to say it; that thing on Monday...
