Bridging The Gap

A famous landmark of Kidderminster, the viaduct gives a sense of continuity to the town's industrial heritage. The impressive 20 arch structure was built in 1885 using 7 million blue bricks. It cost £30, 000, a significant sum of money. As I stood on Homebase car park recording this image, it occurred to me that the total cost of every 3 cars passing beneath the arch was about the same amount.

What would would the builders of this wonderful structure make of that? What would they make of the multi-storey flats - homes climbing high into the sky? What would they make of the demise of this once-thriving manufacturing town?

Better that they don't know perhaps.
