Guanajuato Tunnels

Looking back over my entries from our two week and two day visits to this incredible town I realized that I had not posted a photo of the thing this town is so famous for - its tunnels. Many were constructed back in Colonial times and were originally used for flood control. With the advent of modern dams, they are no longer necessary for water channeling and have been converted to traffic flow instead. They form an underground transportation web that is confusing as well as beautiful. With my exploration buddy daughter finally feeling better, we ventured down for a little urban spelunking. We managed to find this classic view, on the postcards in the giftshop, on our first try.
