Convalescence

Trying to take a photo of your own inner elbow on your right arm using a smartphone in your (off) left hand turns out to be rather difficult. In the absence of any other real achievement today this will have to do. After the barrage of tests at the hospital I'm still rather bruised but the niggling pain has subsided.

Doctor in the morning, full thoracic check-up, she can still here 'something' in there so I am advised to not return to work until I have had a clear day with no pain or general chest problems, and suggested Friday at the earliest.

Phoned work to let them know and was informed that over the festive period the company board had got together and decided to make a few redundancies. I am thankfully not one of them. We are moving from a Microsoft stack to a Unix stack and as a company with an awful lot of C# and MSSQL developers who are quite specialised it makes business sense. I am am pretty certain however that when the switch was announced there were murmured guarantees that no-one would lose their job. That must have made for a VERY bad first Monday back for a few people.

In my convalescence mode I managed to get round to watching the first episode of the new 'Sherlock', pick up my guitar and jam for a bit, have a rest, do the dishes and some hoovering, another rest, make some refried beans using bone from the weekends roast belly pork, watch 'Photographing Fairies', which was better than I thought it might have been after all these years, and round the evening off with a some tinkering in my newly installed MongoDB shell.
