BoHingles Blips

122 years old and still going strong

After yesterday's beautiful blue sky I woke up to a frosty morning which soon turned into just a grey damp Sunday.

The girlfriend and I still made the effort to get up and take a trip out in the car. Not far from home we set off to Bridgnorth which is split level town with an upper and lower part connected by footpaths, roads and the fantastic Funicular Railway (picture). This is one of four funicular railways in the UK and was built in 1892.

We bought a return ticket from upper Bridgnorth to get down to the bulging River Severn but decided not to use the return ticket, we walked back up through the old fascinating streets viewing the old houses, pubs and church.

It was damp and cold to the bone walking around but it really made us appreciate the warmth of Baileys Restaurant where we had a great lunch.
