Harbour

7.1C sunny, clear, and cool. Light breeze.

Since Apothecary7 had her day off today and won't have another (except Sunday) until a week on Friday we decided to make a day of it. We went to St Andrews. It doesn't take too long to drive there and there is plenty of walking that can be done with Maeve the Deerhound.

When we got there we walked out along the West Sands. It was very sunny and there were some small waves breaking gently all along the length of the beach. Maeve was off her lead and mostly following along behind. She did rush off to meet one or two dogs but the beach was much quieter than it was on boxing day and on the 2nd of January (which is a holiday in Scotland for anyone who doesn't know) so there weren't many dogs to meet. She did play at staying behind to sniff things then running to catch up and looked very happy when running although no great speed was reached.

After we walked back to the car park we walked along past the University buildings and down past the Cathedral to the harbour. We wandered out along the old pier at the harbour mouth and I took a few shots looking back towards the harbour itself. St Rule's tower and the higher parts of the Cathedral towers are in the background. A bit of a postcard shot I think, but there are some good colours.

We walked back along to the car park and popped Maeve in the car. She had a snooze while Apothecary7 and I went into town and had some lunch.

Afterwards we went back to the shop where we had got the little Raku pieces towards the end of last year. We had wanted to get a beach hut piece to go with the tug boat and the fish but on our last two visits the shop was closed. They still had two beach huts left. One (in blue and red) is now hanging with the other two pieces in our kitchen in the spaces between our little display of colourful plates.

We were back home about 4 o'clock and it was clouding over so we definitely had the best part of the day for our trip.
