The Kelpies, Helix Park, Falkirk

Yesterday's trip to see Andy Scott's sculpture 'Arria' in Cumbernauld reminded me that I hadn't been along to see the Kelpies, another of his works, for a couple of weeks.

These massive structures tower over the Forth & Clyde Canal and are part of the Helix Park being developed near Falkirk.

Although the construction of the Kelpies statues has been completed, part of the immediate surrounding area is still a bit of a building site as it continues to be developed - a visitor centre is due to open later in the year, for example. There is, however, a viewing platform and a pathway on the canal bank opposite which give good views of Falkirk's latest attraction.
