Looking to the Morning Sun.

Wow, what a perfect morning for a walk on the moors.

We met at 8.00am just below the moor above Bingley ( I would call this Ilkley Moor, but more correctly it is Bingley Moor at this point, becoming Burley Moor further on) we headed up to the summit of the moor as the sun was rising over the Aire Valley. The valley remained in mist but the moor was illuminated to an amazing gold and silver from the sparkle of the frost on the grasses and heather.

The walking was pretty good as it was quite crisp under foot so was pleased to be able to where boots instead of wellies. It was a pure joy to be out for a change this winter.

Here, having walked along the ridge of the moor between both valleys, this is looking back to the Wharfe Valley still in the mist. You can just make out Brimham Rocks on the far left in the direction of Harrogate.

This set me up for the joys of Breast Screening at Airedale Hospital, but the very pleasant radiologist told me about a walk near Clitheroe called the Tolkien walk so I will have a look at that for the future.
