Another truly foul day with gales and horizontal rain! Trying to walk with Ollie it was an effort to put one foot in front of the other even on the flat, the wind resistance was incredible.

Wisely Mike retreated to his shed and spent most of the day working on the new boat. She's a bit shorter than the old one, and a good bit beamier, and also a lot lighter to manoeuvre as she is single skinned. Mike has painted the inside and is making modifications to the woodwork, reinforcing and strengthening bits and pieces. Lots of sanding and varnishing going on too - the correct term being "brightwork" so I'm reliably informed.

I spent my day giving Ollie a thorough brush and trim, doing overdue housework and cooking a full roast chicken dinner, with all the trimmings, followed by apple cobbler and custard. I like to think of it as necessary fuel replenishment in this weather!
