The Edge of the Wold

Wall Gus

Here is Gus next to the drystone wall that divides the Helm lengthwise along its spine. On the Gus side is common land, much used recreationally and now no longer grazed. On the other side is the area owned by Friends of the Lake District, and grazed by fell ponies and a few woolly cows.

There wasn't time at lunch for a walk along the length of the hill, and poor Gus was feeling short-changed. We went early to be back for 1 pm, which meant a long incarceration this afternoon in the back of the car for Gus. He's very patient.
