Those Blasted Trees!

Not so long ago I had an almost uninterrupted view of the mountain tops from my back lawn, but these eucalypts now block a large expanse of the Torlesse Range. They were planted a bit over a hundred metres away to serve as a windbreak and they have grown very fast. There is nothing to be done about it. People are free to grow trees on their own land.


Starling announcement

The nesting box pair have two chicks hatched, one today and one yesterday. The back door pair are taking worms into their nest, though I haven't heard any chicks. No news yet on the corner pair or the kitchen pair. The blackbirds in the thick coprosma by the garage are feeding chicks as well. It's all go.
