The Head of the River

This is The Head of the River, a lovely pub in Oxford. The Thames is pretty much as high as it can be without flooding in.
Driving into Oxford was shocking again. The fields are flooded for miles around - if you didn't know better you'd think it was lakes that are always there! And the allotments on the Botley Road are under at least a foot of water.
I got absolutely soaked walking from the car park to the pub in the torrential rain and howling wind. When will it stop?!!!
I was in Oxford to meet Mr A - one of my oldest friends who I used to live with and work with in London. We haven't seen each other since Miss E's Christening. Five and a half years ago!!
It didn't feel like it had been anywhere near that long! It was so nice catching up, reminiscing, eating and talking travel and Thai food!
We definitely mustn't leave it so long next time!
Then it was the usual Wednesday fun and games - getting back to pick up Miss E for gymnastics. And picking up Nana en route to come and keep us company. Rushing to gymnastics as we were late, bundling her in the door and then chatting for the hour in the car. Then we went to McDonalds and sat inside. Miss E was giddy at our "girl's outing" - she looked so grown up and proud to be with us. Fantastic!
She also looked knackered after already having been swimming at school today.
Wednesdays are tiring!
