Fly Away Home

Well if only it could!

Having found a ladybird on the bathroom wall this morning I foolishly left the window open whilst I grabbed the camera kit. You don't have to think very hard about what happened. So on my return to make her a 'blip star' for the day she had completely disappeared. Standing scratching my head over what to do next I started hunting round the house especially behind curtains; in all the nooks and crannies.

Et voilà ...we have another. Not quite as lively but still a bug :))

This is recognisable as a Harlequin because of the orangey/brown legs, orange rim round the wings and the white pronotum. Imported from Asia by farmers to combat aphids they are now widespread, threatening over 1000 British insect species as they eat their larvae and eggs.

It is sitting on an Eranthis Cilicica or winter aconite a lovely colourful flower from a hardy bulb which adds cheer to the garden along with the snowdrops in the cold months.
