Birds and Waterfalls

Yet another flight today, I've lost count now of how many we're up to but it took us from Buenos Aeries to Iguazu City. A reasonably quick flight, we got off the plane to find that everyone's luggage, except Holly's, had been left behind. We weren't the only one's in this predicament however as about two thirds of the flights luggage hadn't been on the flight. Don't ask me how this could have possibly happened but after waiting in line for a bit we were able to leave them our details and received an assurance that our luggage would be on the very next flight then delivered to our hotel. Oh well.

We went straight from the airport onto our first destination, a bird sanctuary. Those clever ones amongst you would have guessed correctly that that is where today's blip was taken. It was one of the best wildlife experiences I have ever had. We got exceptionally drenched in some tropical rain but it didn't stop us exploring the sanctuary, once your wet you're not getting any wetter. Thanks to same fairly spacious walkthrough aviaries you managed to get nice and close to a lot of the birds, most of which were tropical birds and nothing short of spectacular. By far the best ones were the toucans. We had seen one in the wild while we were in the Amazon, but these ones were even better as they were right in front of us and not shy at all. One hopped his one over to the handrail near us and after getting a few photos with him we tentatively put out our hands in an attempt to pat him. He didn't mind at all! He gave us a quick look and then just continued with what he was doing. It was brilliant. Unfortunately none of my photos of them were quite as good as the one I used today due to busy backgrounds with people in them.

After leaving the sanctuary we popped over to Brazil. We visited the Brazilian side of the Iguazu waterfalls which lived up to all expectations. They went on and on and were simply amazing to look at. We walked along them for a way and then went out to a platform that sits right on top of them, you got pretty wet but the view was great. Amazingly we were told that the Argentinian side (which we will visit tomorrow) are even better.

We then headed back into Argentina, back towards out hotel, and got in the pool. It was excellent, cool water, tropical heat and a beer in hand. As days go they don't get much better than that.
