Cormorant

5.7C with rain to start then drying up before lunch time. Light snow showers late afternoon. Windy.

Maeve the Deerhound and I walked down to the shore after lunch. We went along to the level crossing and down to the beach. As we reached the beach a JCB type digger drove along the sand towards Easthaven. We walked along in the same direction for 100 metres or so but he didn't stop. He went at least as far as the burn.

We walked back along to Westhaven and the fishermen's huts. As we approached the huts we could see a Cormorant standing on the sand. They usually perch on the channel marker posts. We walked along slowly but it flew off and landed further along the sand. I walked Maeve up off the beach and popped her lead over a pole near the boats which are near the huts. I walked very slowly down to the sand and managed to get a few pictures.

I collected Maeve and we continued on our way. Two more dog walkers were just heading down onto the sand from the car park. Both dogs were off the lead. I expect the Cormorant was soon flying off again !

Note: At 6pm there is a very thin layer of snow making the fields across the road white.
