Two hour drive to Birmingham this morning, to the Quaker Study Centre at Selly Oak, just outside the city centre. I'm attending a weekend course for new Treasurers.

After a friendly introductory gathering with the group over tea and biscuits it was dive straight in off the high board. A mind boggling series of sessions devoted to the basics of book-keeping and reporting of accounts. Most of my fellow participants were equally shell-shocked and "quiet" by lunch time - what had we let ourselves in for.

Took advantage of the break times to rush outside to photograph the house and grounds, which no doubt will feature over my weekend stay here. Sessions continue, with meal breaks of course, until 9.15pm, so it seems like a long day. Initial impressions of the place, the food and the people equally good, think I'll enjoy this [despite the book-keeping!].

Tired by the end of the evening session, Meditation to still the mind before sinking into the deepest of sleeps zzzzzzzzzzzz
