On our Way

We got up very early to have plenty of time to get to the airport. I looked out the window and saw that nine inches or more of snow fell yesterday. I had very strong doubts that we would be able to fly to Las Vegas today. I checked cancelations around seven and found that all of the early morning flights had been canceled. Oh oh. But we decided to go anyhow and Steve arrived in his car, Carol at the wheel, to drop us off at the airport. We got there around 8:30 and Carol took off for work in Steve's car.

Our flight still showed on time at 10:05 so we sat and waited. Very few flights were going out. Eventually the flight got delayed but still was there. Finally we all boarded the plane and then sat on the runway while they waited to see how the landing planes were managing before deciding to fully fuel the plane for Las Vegas, or take less fuel, being lighter and easier for take off, and then stopping at Seattle to take on more fuel. At 12:15 we finally took off, fully fueled, for Las Vegas. The flight was easy. And we finally arrived.

Our niece drove us home to the condo and we settled in. We did a big shopping for the week and ate dinner before we picked up our nephew and took him home. We spent a bit of time with the kids and then headed back to the condo.

Steve and I played a game. Helena and Arvin headed of to bed. It was a long but successful day. Here are Arvin, Helena and Steve (with the newspaper) waiting in the airport for our flight.
