Someday Sparrow

"Someday sparrow, you're gonna fly away"

This song that Laura Cantrell sang on Thursday night keeps going round in my head.

I don't think I'm quite ready to fly away from here yet.

We are flying away from home for a couple of weeks soon. Dr T is arriving tomorrow night to be a Gus-minder in our absence (an arrangement both will enjoy, though Gus will miss his beloved favourite human terribly).

This photo of a handsome male house sparrow was taken in the garden shortly before we flew away south, a long day of stop start traffic. It was good to see the Old Flyer looking better than he was at Christmas, much better nourished now that a delivery of well-balanced meals has been arranged to replace the dreadful ready meals and pies he was living on from a certain supermarket. Gus travelled patiently, but the Old Flyer's house is far too hot for a dog with a thick fur coat designed to keep him warm in draughty cold barns. So he was quietly glad to come home on Sunday.

As for our longer trip away, it looks like WiFi will be an expensive indulgence, so blipping opportunities may be rare. I will do my best to post a full record from the trip, if only as back blips.

Sorry about the confusing chronology, this is being posted on 26 February 2014. I have failed to take a single photo today or yesterday. Someday Sparrow......
