Horse Family

Popped in to see my sculptor pal Andy Scott in his studio this morning. Always a delight to see what he is creating for the next piece of public art.
Andy is currently hard at work on a family of horses for a private client in New York. I counted four of them in varying degrees of completion in his studio, including these two beauties.
Despite their scale, this equine art is incredibly intricate and requires keen attention to detail.
Balance is also critically important because the horses will eventually be displayed on plinths with only a couple of feet touching the ground, to convey the impression of movement. If he gets it wrong they fall over. But that won't be happening.
Public art and aesthetically pleasing engineering. Great combination.
This is one seriously talented guy.
