Bon voyage - Returning to work

This rig has been serviced in Dundee over the past few weeks. Its working parts will have been checked - the paintwork been blasted and re- painted, any modifications which were required will have been carried out. Sometimes these rigs come from a deep sea area, such as off the coast of Nigeria, and the legs have to be shortened to work in the relatively shallow areas of the North Sea.

Moving them back out to their station is a delicate job, and a good weather window is always to be desired - they don't exactly look stable and in a wild storm would be in danger of capsizing. Fortunately, today was a brilliant day! This was taken just off the beach at Broughty Ferry.
