Noisy Clock

About 8 years ago we decided that Grandfather's Clock was too shabby to have in the living room so we replaced it with this. Although I like the Golden Clock for being simple and unfussy, I also like this clock for being the complete opposite. The decorative surround is supposed to look like an Alpine village, the 'pendulum' rotates 180 degrees clockwise before spinning back 180 degrees anti-clockwise and every hour, on the hour, it plays a tune. Which lasts for one whole minute. At least it's a different tune each hour and, like the Cuckoo Clock it only strikes during the hours of daylight. It meant that we sometimes had to pause the TV mid programme so as not to miss dialogue and, if we were on the phone, had to disappear into a different room (but not the dining room because, of course, the blasted cuckoo was also doing its bit). The batteries were removed after less than a month and the entire clock was relegated to the landing window ledge when the golden clock arrived.
