Golden Dusk

Had quite a lazy day really, but isn't that what weekends are suppose to be about?

Paige asked if we could go out with the cameras today. She is interested in capturing a shot or two to enter into the RSPB Wildpix 2014 competition.

So I took her to my favourite haunts, starting with the hide at Manby where she got some lapwings and teal ducks mainly. As we drove to Hubbards Hills we saw the shot of a lifetime on the side of the road, I drove right around the roundabout and back down the road. Stopping in a small roadway to allow her to get the camera out and ready. I drove slowly back with the window open and she had about 30 seconds to get the shot but couldn't get the camera to focus. Too late we had missed it. A Buzzard with its talons around its prey, everyone had driven past and completely missed it. So on to Hubbards Hills for some much tamer shots of garden birds.

Saltfleet Haven on the way home is where my chosen blip photograph is from. The tide was really high and a sea fret covered everything. This boat came up the inlet at a rate of knots causing a large prow wave in the already swollen waters. The boat then turned and we watched it being winched up onto a huge trailer and driven away. Not sure what they had been fishing for, or how good their catch was, I just loved the golden hues on the boat and water caused by the setting sun and the mist. This is the true colours and the only editing is a slight straightening.
