Feeding the birds

Up bright and early to be greeted by a very cool, 5-degree morning. Autumn arrived overnight!

Down to the beach for a 7.30 paddleboard session but the paddleboard lady wasn't there :( Decided on a walk along the beach instead. Absolutely gorgeous :) It felt like the 'time' I had in 2008 when I took a year off work - I'd often start the day with a walk along the beach when there were few people, lots of space (all kinds of space . . . . physical, mental, time, emotional . . . . ) and with that came lots of peacefulness. Yes - this morning had exactly that 'feel' to it. A great way to start the day.

This is Malcolm who we met along the beach with Helen. When I first saw him he was surrounded by a small flock of seagulls. It became apparent why they were there as we neared him and saw the small bag of bread in his hand. He'd gently hold a small piece of bread lightly between his thumb and index finger, extend his arm and within seconds the flock would take flight and jostle for position to get to the bread first.

I liked this shot because of the direct eye contact between the bird and Malcolm. I'm sure the bird is saying 'thank you'.
