Some years ago I was given a two metre folding ruler. They're common on the continent but not the norm in Britain. It's a very useful tool, much better than a tape measure in many situations.

I used to carry this around in my rucksack which unfortunately I left outside a shop when I was waiting for a cab. Amazingly, when Ant very kindly enquired whether the shop had found the rucksack they said yes they had found it but because it was a rucksack they just left it there. Thanks guys.

I managed to find these on the internet, I think they're a bit less substantial that my old ruler. They're very nice, but they're not Herr Knaublach
