A backblip - today was full on! We headed for the delights of Cork city : knickers, Lush bath bomb; strong coffee for me; second hand book for arty purposes and pens for Himself. We had lunch in a teeny Indian cafe TJ had recommended. It was packed and the food was fanatastic and then we had a wander around the Shandon area of the city. Very hilly, very old, a bit delapidated but full of interesting corners and always dominated by the church of St Anne with its huge wedding cake tower and loud bells - if you're feeling energetic you can climb to the top of the tower and have a go at a carillion. Many avail of this and the noise can be deafening. The area is also the home to the old butter market, the wondrously named Firkin Crane - that's St Anne's in the background. This rather optimistic mural was advertising a ballet school - I liked the message.
We arrived home - no internet, mist on the airways or something - and went straight off to TJs who was hosting a pot luck supper. The journey across the mountain was horrendous - lashing rain, thick fog at the top, floods and loads of cars coming in the other direction as there was an Ash Wednesday mass going on. We arrived stressed and wet but a delicious meal ensused and it was great to see midwifecrisis again - excellent Spotted Richard missus !!
