Advised Diversion

You may detect a note of cynicism on this blackboard outside a fishmonger in Katoomba. They are situated in behind Katoomba St, along a lane adjacent to where there was a supermarket, now closed (for some time). A new Woolworths supermarket is soon to open, and (as the road working bloke told me today) Woolies were required to put in a couple of raised pedestrian crossings; the Council then decided they might as well take the opportunity to fix up the whole road. Well, I say the whole road; it's actually only about 2/3 of the road; there'll need to be another installment to get the rest of it - pretty much where I stood to take this, only I was on the footpath.

On the subject of the footpath, you will note that there is still a footpath available alongside the various shops on this lane. However, once the roadworks reach their next stage, they'll wipe out the footpath as well, and the only access will be via the various alleys up from Katoomba St. That'll be fun, I'm sure.

And by "fun", I mean a nightmare.
