Terns in flight, Loch Lomond

It turned into a great day for walking as the rain ceased and sun broke through in spurts. The wind was still blowing briskly and fairly churned up the water on Loch Lomond. This view from the southern shore at Ross Priory is north to Ben Lomond which is shrouded in a misty haze. I was lucky to capture two terns as they took flight.

The Isle of Inchcailloch (on the right) is now owned by Scottish Natural Heritage and can be reached by boat from Balloch in the summer season. It has a nature trail to the top of the little hill from where nearly all of the loch's islands are visible. An historic graveyard where the McGregor Clan buried their dead can be found, along with other signs of former human habitation. A visit there is something I must do.
