Mandarin duck in a tree at dusk

It's not every day I see a Mandarin duck in a tree at dusk. In fact, I think this is a first for me so I'm changing it for my earlier blip. It was there because just along the branch, obscured by the trunk in the murk, was a lady mandarin duck.

I watched a wren building its nest in the ivy this morning, using moss from the pond in our garden. It's handy to know where the birds are nesting so I don't disturb them but I'm amazed each year to find nests that have been built without our noticing.

NB. The more I look at this image, the more absurd that duck looks. What was it thinking?
