Pink and Blue

This morning Will walked over with his friend Casey, who is socializing a four month yellow lab/golden retriever, Peyton. Dana and Rudy came too because Rudy wouldn't walk over here without her. Peyton thudded down our hall with his big puppy feet, checked out all the rooms, and then watched while Rudy and Ozzie begged for the foam from our cappuccinos. He was better behaved than either one of them.

When we took Carol to the tiny Charles Schultz Sonoma County Airport this morning, the message board said her flight was delayed 41 minutes, so we went into the restaurant, had pastries and coffee and watched the Lear jets taking off and landing. As we were finishing, a young man came into the restaurant and said,
"If you're going to Seattle, raise your hand…"
"If you're going to Seattle, raise your other hand…"
Surveying several people looking at him with both arms up in the air and flapping both his arms up and down "Time to fly"
As we walked past the statue of Snoopy with his WWI flyer's helmet, scarf and goggles on, the message board changed from delayed 41 minutes to on time…
We said our goodbyes and walked out past the booth with a picture of Lucy on it and a sign saying "Aitport Help. 5 cents. The helper is in" A man in a yellow shirt sat behind the counter. He was eating his breakfast.

Every time we go down our driveway, we see our neighbors' ancient nectarine tree, gnarled and almost black with age, leaning toward their garden hut. Last week it burst into bloom, so I went over and took about 25 pictures of it. I love the contrast between the gnarly black trunk and the young pink and red blossoms. When I tried to get a shot of the whole tree, it just faded into the background, so I finally settled on a few branches against the backdrop of the blue sky with the sun shining through the blossoms.
