The Edge of the Wold

Devotion

When we came home after over two weeks away, we were expecting Gus to get very excited: as he does when he hasn't seen us for a few hours. But he was subdued, confused perhaps by our reappearance when he had started to adjust to life without his favourite human. He spent the evening lying at Wifie's feet, he wouldn't be parted from her until it was time for bed.

He and Dr T did get on very well in our absence, and they visited places he has never been to before. He even appeared as an extra in a Youtube video as a steam locomotive thundered through Oxenholme Station. He was also lost on a visit to Cark-in-Cartmel, and was found sitting rather like this, leaning on the leg of a kindly woman, who said he was such a nice dog, she had been wondering whether to take him home.

Our first day or two back, he was uncertain, fearful perhaps that Wifie (and maybe me too) might up and leave him again. As the week has gone on, his confidence has grown, and he is now more like his old self, roaming further afield, and making darts for imaginary rabbits.
