Lycée Emile Zola in Rennes

We passed the Lycée Emile Zola on the way to take the train back to Paris this morning. This is the former chapel (now an assembly hall) in the large 19th century building, which extends much further to the right.

The French lycée is at the pinnacle of the secondary school system, representing the main route to the baccalauréat, the qualification to attend a university. The best lycées historically enjoyed enormous prestige.

We had a wonderful four-day stay in Brittany, divided between Rennes with Nine and Didier, and Annick and Thierry's lovely country house, about 2 1/2 hours further west.

My year-earlier blip is a woodpigeon--common in Paris, but I haven't managed a blip this year.
