But, then again . . . . .

The Meldons

It is a well known fact that the trade wind in this area is the south-westerly, so it was a pleasant surprise to find most of our outward journey to Eddleston, in spite of us travelling in a south-westerly direction, benefited from a tail wind; surprise gave way to amazement when we also experienced some sunshine. The fly in the ointment was that it was bloody cold.

We normally cycle over The Meldons just after lunch and there are complaints, partly because the old legs (and most of us do have old legs) need warming up first and partly due to the play piece lying heavy on the stomach; today there were complaints because we tackled this hill before lunch and blood sugar levels were a bit on the low side.
Some people are never happy.

During the winter months, we book village halls so that we have somewhere warm and dry to eat our lunch. Winter is now officially over so next Wednesday we will be eating while sitting on wet grass - in the cold - and the wind - and, no doubt, the rain.
Happy days.
