Mother's Day

This is the first time I have spent Mother's day with only my little man at home. I received some lovely flowers yesterday from all three boys, and both Luke and Adam phoned me to wish me happy Mother's Day. I had a lovely walk in the woods this morning with Murdoch, where I played around with the fisheye lens and these tall trees.

Gavin had left some money for Thomas to take me out to lunch for Mother's Day. It was really too sweet - he got all dressed up and off we went, there was a table reservation in his name (at Zizzi's) and we had a lovely lunch together, and after the meal he pulled out his wallet and paid for the lunch (I had to explain what the normal amount was for a tip).

Everyone is back home tomorrow - Gavin and Luke have had a wonderful time skiing in superb snow conditions with sunshine every day, and Luke's friends have really enjoyed the trip. There was one little mishap when Luke's friend had a small fall and lost a ski, and they could not find it. They spent so long looking for it that the lifts closed and they could not get down the mountain by the usual route. So they skied from where they were down an icy black run to another village, and Luke had to swap his ski boots and skis with his friend so that his friend could ski down with a pair of skis while Luke jammed his feet into ski boots two sizes too small for him and skied this tricky run with one ski. The ski hire shop were not upset about the lost ski - they said that when the snow melts someone is bound to find it and return it!

Adam is returning after five days on the beaches and surrounding land of the Devon coast collecting samples and analysing them in the lab till late at night, as part of his Biology course work. He says they have also done so much Biology revision that he does not need to do any more this holiday.
