Oops!

We took the dogs over to Combe this afternoon. It was meant to be a quiet walk through the Blenheim Palace woodland, taking in the scenery and hopefully getting a blip along the way.

All was going to plan until a muntjac decided to take a walk on the wild side and cross in front of the two deerhounds. They obviously gave chase and no amount of shouting would make them come back. Luckily for the muntjac, neither of them have a killer instinct, so although they ran along side it, no harm came to it.
When the three of them were near exhaustion, the muntjac made her escape and the dogs came back sheepishly, with tongues hanging out. The walk was then cut short, as they were not fit for another step.

I decided to blip the fallen tree and wall, when out of nowhere, a muntjac (not sure if the same one) came walking straight back up to us. It was only a slight movement, whilst photographing the fallen tree, that alerted it to our presence and it bolted in the opposite direction.

I often wonder how much noise is generated when these enormous trees are toppled by storms. It must be incredible to watch and hear.
