If You Go Down In The Woods Today...

... You'd better go in with Canons! What a great day out we had today!

The Man, Chippy and I got the chance to go and watch the World Rally Championship driver, Elfyn Evans, test out his Fiesta in our local forest. I've seen the 25 year old Welshman, Elfyn on a previous visit to one of these test days and jumped at the chance to go again and practice my event photography.

Because the marshal who invited us, knew we were keen photographers, he got a really good position on the 6 mile track to offer us a few good vantage points.

I would always tell those who come on our courses that it is essential to have a bird flying towards the camera, rather than away from it. However, in the case of rally cars, I really think The Man's shot worked so well. Better than my choice.

As the day went on we got braver about where we stood. That gravel really pelted us and we shot back! We had to follow the car on burst then turn the cameras away in time before they got hit. On the left of this shot if you view it LARGE, you can see Chippy covering his camera.

Thank you DerwentLass for supplying us with gingerbread, thank you Mr DerwentLass for getting us in and thank you Chippy for being willing to get your lovely car dirty getting us there.

... and thank you The Man for being willing to spend our 37th wedding anniversary getting covered in mud!
