Train Story

As I mentioned yesterday the Steam Railway has recently opened a new £1.2m pond Lottery aided project known as Train Story.

This is a Rolling Stock Storage and Display Building at Havenstreet, enabling the Railway's unique and historic collection of locomotives, Victorian and Edwardian carriages, and other rare rolling stock to be kept under cover when not in service, away from the harmful effects of sun, wind and rain, and on display for the public to see and enjoy.

The building is now open to visitors every day from spring to late autumn. It will provide a fascinating experience of Victorian and Edwardian railway transport. Included in the project is £100K of interpretative displays to inform and enthral all our visitors.

There are two interconnecting sheds with central platforms which allow the visitors to get up close to the changing displays of engines and rolling stock.

The attraction has only been open for one week and is already receiving over 300 visitors per day and is proving extremely popular particularly with the children.
