reykjavik

we went exploring in reykjavik - it's pretty cold and cloudy today! we were meant to be going on a northern lights tour at 9pm tonight but it has been cancelled because of the weather. never mind, hopefully we'll see them at some point this week. it's like our winter here - makes you realise how spring-like it is back at home.

so we went round the centre, the big church and the harbour area, loads of walking, people watching, admiring the buildings, some shopping and playing a few games of rummie while drinking icelandic beer in a very cool wee cafe. I think the cafe we really liked probably turns into a bar at night, hopefully we'll go back for that at some point.

we also found what is meant to be the best independent record shop in the world - lucky records. I'm not too bothered about spending hours raking through vinyl in record shops, but I probably could in this place. it has comfy vintage seats where you can plug in and put on some vinyl to listen to, lyrics graffitied on the walls, a juke box and decks - it's pretty ace. I think we'll go back there at some point.

so, we're knackered now - up early to go to the blue lagoon spa in the morning. we're looking forward to getting out of the city and seeing a bit of the landscape tomorrow.
