On the beach

On the beach again today. We found what appeared to be the fossil of the Loch Ness monster, who must have left the Loch at some point, but had not survived in the cold salt water of the North Sea.

On closer inspection "Nessie" turned out to be the remains of a tree, not the first time such a mistake has been made I suspect. I had taken a photograph as evidence of the erstwhile Nessie, but having discovered it was only a peculiarly shaped tree trunk decided not to post it here.

We also found the remains of what we initially thought had been Nessie's last meal in the form of the skeletal remains of a very large fish. Not a pretty sight.

Quite a lot of people at the beach (this is St Cyrus, though it could be almost anywhere). Nearly as many dogs about as people and a few fisherman. At one point as we were strolling along the beach we found ourselves being overtaken by this horse. The rider seemed to want to take the horse for a paddle, but the horse did not seem over enthusiastic. I suspect the horse also thought the water was cold.

After a short paddle the horse walked, cantered and finally galloped away. We returned to the car, and later to the Anchor in Johnshaven for late afternoon refreshment.
