Reunion and school friends

Had a wonderful get together at my place today with a bunch of school friends I haven't met in years. We plan one more with a few other people in the next week. Surprisingly and coincidentally, many of them who still have families in Hyderabad, have all come down at this time of the year and we actually managed to meet up. It was a really fun time, with a brief lunch that I quickly put together, and followed by loads of talking and excitement. There is so much to catch up. Somehow, our school friends are the one we end up spending the most time with in our lifetime. School days also remind us of the most trouble free and happy days. Nothing better than school life is something we realize when we finish school and move out. I still remember our seniors telling us this when we were in school, and then it did not seem to make as much sense as it does now.

Never-the-less those are the best days of anyone's lives and we always long to get back and catch up. The funny things we did, the little crushes, the gossips and the freaking out, all become such an inevitable part of the whole experience of being in school. Other topics typically also include where is everyone else in the common friend circle now, what are they doing etc etc. All a lot of fun. These days social networking sites help us know the whereabouts of friends no matter where they are in the planet.

I studied in a convent school and there were a different kind of rules and discipline imposed on us, in spite of which we had such a great time. The memories of the nuns and fathers, and how we enjoyed defying rules quietly was great fun. Memories of school just make me feel so fresh. I had an awesome evening after that and I was smiling and happy for the rest of the evening after they left. Certainly, days I cherish were those of school....
