6619 ready to depart from Wittersham Road

A long day in the signalbox, now just one turn away from my passing out turn. An unusual timetable today with a 3 train service running 8 trains each way, none of which crossed at Wittersham Road. All trains used the platform line so the points remained in the same position all day. It was just a matter of signalling trains to Rolvenden or Northiam all day.

6619 has featured before, being our latest acquisition and of which I'm a shareholder. Nice to see it back in action after failing in service a few weeks ago.

It was the usual quiet day in the box. There was a stir as a passenger actually got off one of the trains. This is most unusual. He hung around the platform with his camera, catching the next train the other way. There were some photographers about too, trying to get the best vantage points for taking atmospheric shots of the trains as they passed through.

One enterprising fellow came up to the signalbox so we invited him in for a chat and a look around. There are mixed views about doing this. I happen to think inviting people in is a good thing as it adds to the experience and people are always interested in the box, its instruments and levers.
