Sgwarnog: In the Field

Picnic on the Sandstone Trail

Our first day in the caravan, but 9yo and Mrs S had to return all the way back to fracture clinic to assess the Good Friday injury. Fortunately it seems to be only a chipped bone, so a new light cast was fitted which he'll need to wear for the next four weeks. At least that means it will be off before our week in the Lakes.

So 6yo and I have had the run of the place, and explored a little way up the Sandstone Trail which backs onto the site. This seemed an ideal spot to stop for our lunch, probably a better view on a clearer day, but still a great sense of the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge elevated over the Cheshire Plain. A Feathered Bright moth came to join us.

A little further on we came to the Woodhouses Hill Fort, one of six Iron Age encampments that lie along the Trail, and had fun storming the embankments.

Now the rain has set in and we await the return of the wounded.
