A Full Lake with Snow on the Mountains

As you can see on my back blip from yesterday, there's been a few results from the lashing rain that hit the Christchurch and Banks Peninsula area yesterday.

In our corner of Banks Peninsula we've had 126mm of rain since Sunday, with the result that the ground is saturated and some trees have fallen.

Down on the flats near the lake, Te Waihora has lived up to its name (the Maori translates to 'Spreading Waters') with the lake margins right up to the Akaroa Highway once more.

As you see in the distance, there's been a good dump of snow out on the Southern Alps too. It bodes well for my trip to Tekapo over the weekend - here's hoping there will be plenty of snow around the Lake to set those views of even more nicely.
