Day One Isaac's Tea Trail (B group)

Another back blip because I haven't been able to stay awake to post my blip.

Today was Day One of the 3 day walk around Isaac's Tea Trail.

Isaac Walton was a man of the Allen Valleys. As a boy he washed floors in the pit, then at 13 he became a miner. He obviously had a good brain and some nouse because he and his wife set up a grocer's shop in Allendale. Then he became an itinerant tea seller, walking the valleys on foot.

He converted to Methodism, which was big in the dales and as a result he started to attend to the needs of the local population. He arranged for a fresh water supply in Allendale (Isaac's Well). Then he sold portraits of himself and used the money raised to buy a hearse, the horse and the house for both! He had been concerned about the lack of dignity in death when people were taken to church on carts, wrapped in a shroud.

We are walking the 39 mile route over 3 days. So many people wanted to come that we have 2 groups walking each day, separated by a gap of 3 miles. It worked well.
