Romanshorn

After breakfast we had a walk around Alzey where it has stopped raining and the weather is quite pleasant. Departing from Alzey we have a roughly four hour drive to Lake Constance where we are going to spend a day without driving. I had not counted on the traffic at the border though which must have added at least half an hour.

Quite a along queue leaving the EU into Switzerland at the Konstanz border check. We did not have to stop, apart from the traffic hold up, as we had bought a Swiss motorway sticker for the car a couple of weeks ago. More importantly I had even remembered to put i on the windscreen.

We arrived in Romanshorn late afternoon. A walk around the town and a couple of beers at a lakeside bar. Dinner in the hotel, which was very nice, but also very expensive. The hotel is in a park, and the restaurant overlooks the marina. Very pretty but the town itself is not very exciting. The reason for choosing Romanshorn was the harbour which is one of the main ports for cruise ships around the lake. That will be for tomorrow.

I thought this view of the lake was slightly reminiscent of the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen.
