Knock knock..

Who's there?...

Who..

Who who?...

Is there an owl in here?

Since finding that we have a Great Tit nesting in our camera birdbox the routine has been pretty much the same on a day to day basis. Mumma bird stays on the nest sleeping most of the time and occasionally pops out for something to eat and a wing stretch.. she regularily rotates the eggs (head down , tail up) . The most eggs we have seen on camera is 6 but as the nest is pretty deep we are estimating there to be around 8-9 eggs and it can't be long until they start hatching (all being well).
A couple of days ago I heard the male calling from the tree in the garden.. the female left the nest and was greeted by the male with a large mouthful of bugs which he duly fed her.. a nice thing to see. Today.. he started visiting her in the nest bearing big mouthfuls of food. Perhaps that is the telling sign that they expect the eggs to hatch soon. Watching and waiting.. exciting.
Todays photo is of the female returning to the nest after a couple of minutes being out and about..
Looking forward to the weekend
